Running In Circles - February 2013

CHAIRMANS CHATTER

I would like to start this newsletter by thanking each and every person/runner/husband and wife that helped us in hosting a fantastic VAN WETTENS NIGHT RACE on Wednesday evening! We had around 750 runners! We had more than 35 club members assisting as marshals and assistants to Beth! A huge thank you to all of you!

Thank you to VAN WETTENS for their continued sponsorship of the event! Iain, you looked good on the road Wednesday eve! As a running club we appreciate you as a sponsor and hope we can carry it forward in years to come. Thank you Paul as the race organiser and the committee for their time put in.

I would like to thank Toy Dupper for doing the Van Wettens “clean up run’ man alone on Thursday morning. Your effort and commitment to our running club doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you Toy!

It is important to finalize the 2013 licenses by the end of February. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the procedure involved. There are currently only 60 members registered. ASA MPL allocated numbers to us for the year but these are on a first come first serve basis. So, if you entered the comrades please register asap. You will need to pay your club money in full before your license is issued. Please contact Helen Clarke should there are any questions regarding registration and
payment. Licenses will be issued at Time trial on Thursday evenings from 17:00. NO PROOF OF PAYMENT, NO NUMBER.

I want to wish our Mpumalanga runners all the best for their SA Championships this weekend in Oudtshoorn. We have 6 runners from our club participating and I am sure we will have a podium finisher amongst them.

Our provisional date for the AGM is 28 Feb. Mirandi will send out notices to every club member within the next week.

Please support our time trials on Thursday afternoons at 17:30 at LVCC CLUBHOUSE.

See you on the road!

EDITOR’S CORNER
How January has flown, I can’t believe it went by so fast. The hot days did not make it easy for runs. I tried running in Potchefstroom but it was not easy, the flat roads made 2km feel like 7. Thanks See you on the road
