Chairman's Chat.
1. Firstly apologies for this edition being, unavoidably, later than usual.
2. Congratulations to all those who participated in the PWC this weekend. No matter what distance you covered, no matter what time you took. Well done. It was nice to meet some new members and see some familiar faces too. Thanks to the committee for setting up the gazebo.

3. We very proudly once again host the Comrades Road show next week 12th at the club. MLG will be delighted that Lyndsey Parry as Comrades Coach once again takes to the mike, assisted by Ian Laxton the voice of athletics SA and the entertaining and inspiration of radio personality Brad Brown. Come stand a chance of a trip to the Rome Marathon!
4. A reminder that Bateleur Memorial Race is on the 15th of March. A decision has been taken that no members will be able to run this race due to the fact we have not got enough volunteers. Remember the quicker you get your race volunteering of two races out the way the quicker you get to run two of our races! Please send you details to our email if you can help. lvccrun@gmail.com . We want to allocate marshal spots on the Friday. And there will be a list to volunteer also at time trial and the before the Saturday run.
5. Our monthly social is at TT tonight evening so join us for a run and a wors roll.
6. Thank you to all of you who made the effort to attend our AGM on the 6th. Much discussion ensued and highlighted the need for people who feel strongly about club matters to get involved. Bring solutions rather than problems and be forthcoming with issues as they arise,
7. The minutes of the AGM will be emailed to 2014 paid members.
8. We have to finalise our camping area for Loskop. We need to give forever resorts back space that is not taken by our members. Now that the entries are closed we shall be closing off our bookings too. SO please ensure Paul has your details by Wednesday next week. Please note the camping site booked is for members and their family only.
9. As predicted we had a surge of last minute membership pre PWC. We have taken on board some constructive comments and changed our blog format to have a comments section and membership link so it is even easier. If you do not add your details to ASA website even though you get your number, you will not be valid and therefore risk being disqualified at 2014 events so please do!
10. Kit (old stock clearance) and numbers not collected at time trial will be available for collection at the Mpumalanga Running Store (lower level of the Steiltes Shopping centre). THIS IS A COLLECTION POINT ONLY. There is no new kit until you order, pay and it arrives. Kit forms will be going out and the best possible sizing guide is to visit a Nike stockist and get your standard Nike size right.

Captain's Corner.
The 1st of March was 91 days before Comrades and now the training starts to intensify. It’s not just for the Comrades runners but for all our runners aiming to improve their fitness and race times over the different distances at the races coming up.As mentioned in last month’s RIC entries for Loskop Marathon & Wild Run closed on 28th February and there are no late entries at all. I would like to finalise the bookings for the club camping, if you and your family would like to camp with the club for the weekend (11th & 12th April) please send me your details to paul@fnorman.co.za by latest Wednesday 12th March
Planning ahead: The Comrades club long run will be held on Sunday 27th April (Monday 28th is a Public Holiday perfect for recovery ) The run will be approximately 50km with at least 3 support vehicles. I am looking for support vehicle volunteers, drivers & bakkies, please let me know if you can assist. The route & finer details will be in next month’s RIC.
I’m sure you will have noticed a change in the seasons, the mornings are a bit more fresh and its staying dark a little longer, please start wearing your reflective clothing & headlamps for your own safety, drivers on the road cannot see us in the dark so please be aware of oncoming traffic & be as visible as possible.
Good luck to those doing the Om Die Dam Ultra & 21km. Reminder that Longtom has been cancelled.

A decision has been taken to supplement fully paid 2014 members R100 off a vest/short combo (only) on the new kit. Order forms will be going out in the next week. Please note that deadlines to order will be tight and those who do not meet the deadline will have to pay their own courier costs if they want kit before what will become a quarterly club order.
